Toyota wanted to maximize styling differentiation across the wheel programs for model changes to Sienna and Tacoma. Lacks innovations in finish technologies and our Chromtec® wheels technology enabled Toyota engineering to streamline their testing and validation process, meet fuel economy targets, and give styling the creative freedom for each model and trim level.
INSPIRING
SIENNA
By developing an 18” wheel with multiple designs and a 20” wheel option with a variety of finishes each built off of a common backbone, Lacks was able to enhance model differentiation and provide both cost and time savings.
Lacks light-weighting technology and program development us both the 2021 Toyota’s Excellent Technology & Development Award, and the 2022 Altair Enlighten Award’s Sustainability for Product.
Tacoma
Working with the Toyota team, Lacks engineered a single design that utilized multiple gloss levels and Spinelle™ colors applied to the 3D Tessera® textures. This approach created versatility in the design and striking aesthetics while reducing tooling costs and supporting fuel efficiency goals.
Chromtec®’s versatile composite design surface gave Toyota access to Lacks’ full range of gloss levels, rich colors, and high-definition textures.
