Our decades of expertise are only matched by our constant drive for improvement. Everyone at Lacks—from the factory floor to the laboratory bench—works together to develop cutting-edge technologies to bring our OEM partners’ designs to life. We specialize in engineering solutions to aerodynamics, packaging, life cycle, harmonization, durability, and weight concerns, and we never stop looking for what’s next.
End-to-end control over manufacturing means Lacks dedication to excellence comes through in every component. Lacks maintains in-house capabilities in industrial design, prototyping, testing, injection molding, plating, materials science, and testing. Our manufacturing expertise allow us the opportunity for collaboration and gives us the tools necessary for innovation.
When BMW needed a new way to integrate their interior LED lighting design that accommodated packaging constraints while maintaining engineering tolerances, they reached out to us.
By bringing all the parties together, we were achieve to a solution that could reduce part dimensions and enable their lighted interior design. Through this collaboration, a new 2-shot, 1-piece backlit design and manufacturing approach solved the packaging space challenges while creating an array of visually appealing parts with additional assembly benefits.
We’ve been in the molding and plating business for 60 years, but we never stop looking for unique technologies that will transform the industry. When Lacks engineers decided that the existing methods of adding texture to injection-molded parts were too limiting, they sought to develop their own.
Lacks invested 10 years in a vision of a precision technology that could apply complex, customizable 3D designs at the molding level. And because of our culture of innovation, our dedication to our employees, and our injection molding, plating and industrial design expertise, Tessera® was born.
We focus on continuous improvement through material selection, advanced automation, and improved process controls. The first step toward revolutionizing our plating process is in advanced data capturing and analysis.
Our one-of-a-kind, centralized, real-time quality measurement and process adjustment capabilities gives us an accurate depiction of every stage of the finish process—not just for the best quality finished components today but to help us make informed decisions on where to go next.
